In a third story studio overlooking the harbour in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Cathy paints fresh and luminous watercolour paintings. Her use of transparent colors and a limited palette produce paintings that are filled with light and a sense of calm.

With a degree in advertising from the Ontario College of Art and background in technical illustration, her paintings are sometimes illustrative and often quite detailed. Painting en plein air on the streets of St. John’s, at the Botanical Garden and in the local landscape gives her paintings the freshness of the immediate moment.

Her watercolours have been exhibited in galleries in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and currently in several galleries in and around St. John’s. Her prints and drawings are shown in her home studio, which is listed in Studio Guide of the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador.

She has won awards for her drawing and painting in New Brunswick and Newfoundland. Her artwork has been selected for the collections of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the City of St. John’s.
